Floria Sigismondi is a world-renowned creator of film, music video, branded content, photographs, art and experience. Her coveted eye incorporates the ethereal and the mysterious, the whimsical and the grotesque, always commanding profound aesthetic elements to illuminate story.
With notable work in nearly every field of visual ephemera, Floria’s directing ranges the impressive gamut from iconic music videos for Justin Timberlake, David Bowie, Katy Perry, Pink and The White Stripes to her feature debut with “The Runaways” starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. When coupled with global brands, Floria has helmed lauded campaigns for the likes of Samsung, Thierry Mugler, Motorola, among others. Or when left to her singularly creative devices, Floria’s photography, sculpture installations and paintings have left impressions all over the globe, from Germany to Italy to Sweden to the UK.
Floria’s work is defined by enigmatic visual narratives, whether it be a short film for Sigur Ros or published monographs of her photography (“Redemption,” “Immune”). This approach has been praised in kind, with top honors at the MTV VMAs, World Luxury Awards, International Cristal Festival, and beyond.
Hailing from Italy before emigrating with her family to Canada, Floria was raised amongst creatives in an exceedingly artistically inspired environment. Both her parents, Lina and Domenico Sigismondi, were opera singers who helped foster in Floria a deep respect for the arts, which led her to Ontario College of Art to study painting, illustration, and photography. Soon thereafter, a career as a fashion photographer was born, which led to experiments in music videos, film, art, and the rest is beautiful history.
